Electronics and Instrumental Software (ELI)
The Electronics and Instrumental Software department is responsible for the electronic and instrumental software development activities of the laboratory:
- Realization of electronic systems from the needs analysis to the validation of the finished product.
- Instrumentation management, from the lowest level (hardware) to the highest level (operation) through all phases of the development cycle of such products (needs analysis, specifications, development, testing, integration, validation, deployment) for laboratory projects (ground, space, R&D ...)
For example:
- Design and development of the control of actuators and sensors for the instruments of the European Large Telescope ELT, both in the control electronics and in the first software control layers.
- Development of FPGAs for real-time signal processing for the space tomographic radar or for new detectors developed with our industrial partners.
Most of its projects are realized in the framework of international consortia. The service meets the needs of IPAG but also of LiPhy for instrumental developments in spectroscopy or microscopy.
