Many past, recent, and ongoing spacecraft missions that explore the Solar system from very close to the Sun to the heliopause have been equipped with the radio and plasma wave instrument. These instruments are primarily used to analyze a broad spectrum of waves that witness processes occurring in various plasma regions. However, observed waves can be used indirectly for plasma density estimates. During this presentation, we will walk through the basic concepts of plasma density estimates based on quasi-thermal emission, Langmuir waves, and other wave mode observations. These observations have covered the distances from the inner heliosphere as far as heliopause using Solar Orbiter, Cassini, or Voyager 1&2 measurements.
