About me...

I am currently a Marie Curie Fellow in astrophysics at the Institut de Planétologie et d'Astrophysique de Grenoble (IPAG) at the Université Grenoble Alpes.

Research interests

My research projects investigate the physics of the interstellar medium and the physical processes leading to structure formation of its gas components such as the atomic neutral hydrogen (HI 21-cm line), the molecular gas and the dust. I am also interested in signal analysis and image processing techniques in general.

More recently, I focused my research on spatial fluctuations seen in the polarised radio synchrotron emission. Diffuse synchrotron emission is a powerful tracer of the magnetised turbulent non-thermal medium over a broad range of spatial scales. Magnetic fields play a crucial role in many physical processes in the interstellar medium, from the control of star formation to the propagation of cosmic rays.


Multiscale analysis techniques

Many aspects of my research are based on the development of multiscale analysis techniques. Astronomical phenomenons happen at different scales in the Galaxy. Star formation occuring inside molecular clouds, supernova explosions or Galactic spiral-arm density waves are all processes occuring at significantly different spatial scales. Turbulence itself has the ability to transfer energy from large to smaller scales. In order to understand the dynamical interplay between these mechanisms, we need sophisticated analysis techniques. Multiscale analysis techniques such as wavelet analysis can help us to understand those mechanisms in more details.
