Planet formation studies from 100AU to 0.1AU scales with GRAVITY+
jeudi 27 novembre 2025 - 11h00
Guillaume Bourdarot - MPE---
In the last few years, the GRAVITY+ consortium has carried out a major upgrade of the Very Large Telescope Interferometer. Finally realizing the vision of VLTI conceived in the 1980s, the VLTI has been equipped with large field-of-view tracking, extreme Adaptive Optics systems and Laser Guide Star on all 8m telescope. This allows to improve by orders of magnitude the sensitivity and sky coverage previously achievable with VLTI, opening up a new window for the study of astrophysical objects at the highest angular resolution. In this talk, I will focus on the implications for planet formation studies, and the next steps for a future vision in the context of ESO's Expanding Horizon.
