Circumbinary planets: recent results from radial velocities and beyond

Planets in multiple star systems, especially those orbiting around a close binary are less well understood than counterparts around single stars. Yet multi-star systems are very common and planets orbiting within them also appear to be common. I will motivate the study of circumbinary planets beyond a simple curiosity. I will review observational results from the last few decades including recent developments, in particular results from spaced-based photometric missions and ground-based radial velocities. I will also touch on where results will arise from in the future, with a focus on ground based radial velocities and Gaia astrometry.
